the end of something, means the start of something new

Many of you have heard about our planned adventure of touring the country in an RV for the next year.  Many of you expressed amazement, disbelief, and even a little jealousy.  There have been times, especially in the last few weeks before departure, that disbelief was what I felt the most.
But now, it is real.
What began as a mid-life crisis whim, has become a true, once-in-a-lifetime journey.  And life is all about the journey, right?  So, here I go, and will try to share our trip so that you can enjoy it, too.

First night in the rig.  Gordon and I have not been to sleep in 36 hours because of the amount of work that had to be done to clear out our house for the renters.  Misjudged that chore.

What a great way to start our trip, with a visit from our dear friend Lori, who was able to drop by for lunch while in town on business.

Our friends Deb and Jarid Neff also paid a visit and brought a wonderful homemade dinner, along with a gift of RV toilet paper.  You guys are the best and always watching out for us.  We'll miss you.

Even though G and I are dead tired, we managed to hike a bit, seeing a few deer, and even stayed up late enough to see the laser show. Unfortunately, Anna has a bad cough and did not attend.  Poor girl.

We moved out of the Canter Road house on Saturday, and had planned to hit the road on Sunday.  But of course we didn't plan on being so tired that we were literally dizzy for two days.  Plus there were a few loose ends to tie up, including a couple of minor repairs to the rig.  It was nice to just chill and organize the RV.  New departure date, Tuesday, June 4.  Destination, Memphis.
