It's pronounced "Be-u-na" Vista 'round here...

***Another Catch Up Post...maybe I should rename it the Catsup Chronicles***

June 2013
Buena Vista, CO
Mountain home of my friend Cindy

As lovely as the dry heat and open skies in the valley where our rig is parked are, we pack up and head for the hills.  Last February I attended Ladies' Rock Camp in Atlanta.  It was a weekend of music, reflection, self improvement, and making new friends.  This is where I met Cindy.  She came all the way from Dallas, TEXAS, to go to the weekend camp.  This lady loves rock'n'roll.  When she found out about our trip she graciously invited us to stay at her home in Colorado.  Much to her surprise, we showed up.  Ha!  That'll teach her.  Anyway, the place is beautiful!  The house and the surroundings.  Her Australian Cattle Dog, Keli, was there, too.  We hoped that she and Zoe would hit it off, but seems their personalities are too much alike, and there isn't room for two highly protective pups in one (or the other's) home.  Oh well, it was worth a try.

So the kids got to ride an ATV through the Aspen forests, and hike near the 14,000+ foot Collegiate Peaks (Mts. Princeton, Harvard, Yale and Columbia.)  We girls (Cindy, Anna and I) did a little late evening jam with our guitars and bass.  Forgot to take a picture, but the memory will linger.  Gordon had a nice view from his balcony "office" today.  And Alex found a few bones on our hike to add to his collection.  What a great day.  Cindy's house is about 8,000 feet.  G and Anna are both feeling the affects of high altitude.  Bummer.  Guess it's back to base camp.

Good morning :-)

Cindy is a wonderful short-order cook.

There are even rides in the garden.

Thanks for the great visit.

O.K. did I mention the wildlife in her "back yard" that is National Forest?

Crazy squirrels who don't run.

Found a nice place to rest.

Our hostesses.

Keli the mountain dog.

Find Alex!  He's hiding in the "dog hair" pines.
So named because they grow as close as hairs on a dog's back.

Wildcat poop, or hairballs.  Hard to tell.

Lots of feathers and egg shells.  Old nest or tragedy?

OOO.  Bear poop.  Really near the house.

Ummm, I think we go this way...

Hummers right outside the window.

And a lovely garden as well.

Just can't stop taking pictures of them.

Proof that hummers can share.

Weird sky when we went out to eat in town.

Setting sun looks like the mountain's on fire.
Around here, it could be.

Town deer!

Thanks for everything Cindy!
